With daylight fading our group met in the snowpack parking lot at the Ponderosa State Park. We deployed our methods of transport and then start to the putting on of our skis or snowshoes. That’s about the time our wonderful host and chef Lisa glided in on skis, welcomed us with a jolly red cheek, wintery smile. All we had to do was venture into the twilight and dark corridor of towering Ponderosa Pines and follow the flaming tiki torches to the Blue Moon Yurt nestled in the woods on the shore of the frozen Payette Lake.
We slid and crunched through the snow along the Ponderosa State Park trail system and as the group spread out the night came in and stars popped out in the cold blue sky. Soon enough we saw the glow of our round oasis where our culinary world was about to be expanded.
